Chef Timothy Tucker was born in Springfield, Illinois, and graduated from Sullivan University in Louisville, Kentucky with a degree in Culinary Arts. He began his career working at restaurants such as The Mansion on Turtle Creek in Dallas and The Painted Table in Seattle, but truly found his calling at The Salvation Army Center of Hope homeless shelter in Louisville, where he created a program to teach culinary basics to underserved populations.
He established the program in Miami, Florida, and then at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in Boston, Massachusetts. During summers, he is also the chef at Three Mile Island Camp on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, and cooks at the Miles of Music musical camp retreat. He resides in Somerville, Massachusetts.
Amanda Tucker was born in Seoul, South Korea, but was adopted by an American family as an infant and grew up in Rochester, New York. She attended the State University of New York at Purchase's Cinema program and currently attends Harvard University for Public Health studies.
She has been a professional writer since high school, when she interned for the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle newspaper, followed by a stint as a staff writer for The Sentinel in Honeoye Falls, New York. Her writing has appeared in several online websites and journals. She currently resides in Somerville, Massachusetts.
Timothy and Amanda were both working at The Salvation Army Boston Kroc Center in 2014 when they met. They married in June 2018 at beautiful Three Mile Island Camp in New Hampshire.
They now live in San Francisco, CA and Chef Timothy runs The Salvation Army San Francisco Culinary Training Academy.
